American Idol - Top 12/Rolling Stones Week
Thu, March 18, 2010 @ 10:18AM
Spoiler alert! If you've DVR'd American Idol, please avert your eyes. Otherwise, in case you missed this week's Idol, here's a recap! This week was the first performance of the "Top 12." The group performed songs from one of music's all time greatest bands... not just my opinion, it's a fact (go ahead, look it up, I'll wait, lol)... THE ROLLING STONES! Here's the lineup: Michael Lynche - Miss You Didi Benami - Play With Fire Casey James - It's All Over Now Lacey Brown - Ruby Tuesday Andrew Garcia - Gimme Shelter Katie Stevens - Wild Horses Tim Urban - Under My Thumb Siobhan Magnus - Paint It Black Lee Dewyze - Beast of Burden Paige Miles - Honky Tonk Woman Aaron Kelly - Angie Crystal Bowersox - You Can't Always Get What You Want Last night gave us the bottom three: Paige, Lacey & Tim. Based on this week's performances, I think those three made sense.

Big Ben Went Down to Georgia
Thu, March 18, 2010 @ 10:00AM
My version of a parody of Charlie Daniels' hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," admittedly brought about by Big Ben's devil shirt in photographs from his big night in Milledgeville, Ga. And yes, every FM radio station across the nation has done one of these parodies. Mine factors in an outside, fictional, probably improbable shot that Tim Tebow would replace $102 Million Ben. "Big Ben went down to Georgia, He was looking for a girl that squeals. His bus was great, filled with his 'mates And booze you couldn't steal. When he came upon this young girl Dancing on a pole and she was hot. Then Ben jumped up on a barstool and said, 'Boys, let me tell you what. I've heard of that kid Tebow and he's a football player, too But I'll bet his soul against my two rings because I think I'm better than him.

Get competitive
Wed, March 17, 2010 @ 2:07PM
I want to start out by saying thanks to my boss Alex Marshall for taking me to lunch today. Anyone that knows me, knows that I will do about anything for a free lunch. I <3 food! Unfortunately, Alex challenged me. Alex got a little bit cocky about his blog and said he will be on top of the blog page view pyramid very soon. I love a challenge and thirst for competition. In other words, GAME ON! I will most likely lose in a drastic and embarrassing way to the wise and talented Alex Marshall. How could I win though? The cards are stacked against me. Alex takes blogging to a whole new level. Alex has a whole staff of editors and writers to assist him with each and every blog. He knows just about every person in the upper Ohio Valley and enjoys talking to everyone. I can't win. Alex has years of experience on me and is my boss. If by some miracle that I do win, I am sure Alex will rig the competition in his favor. I think of Alex as Dr.

Mountain [Dew] Betrayal
Wed, March 10, 2010 @ 9:44AM
I'm going to start stockpiling Mountain Dew. Screw Ramen Noodles and Twinkies for the "Big One", I want something delicious to drink and might only have a few months to buy it at an already high price. Some places only charge $1.25, others (the Market in Wheeling) charged me $1.70. At this rate, I'll have to decide on eating or having a Dew. But it may just be enough for me to kick the Dew. My favorite beverage will soon be a rising in price, and I have a hard enough time throwing down $1.25 before tax on the drink already. I'll now have to add an 18% tax, which if the sales tax is already included, will turn to $2 or more..But on second thought, what else will I buy? Spend 50 cents less on water, or just splurge and get the sugary bottle of awesome?? My choice is clear, and it is what the government wants. They don't want us to be thin, they want us to realize that its only 50 cents, and slowly help dig America out of the debt that we (they [Bush]) have built.

The Ultimate Baseball Fantasy
Wed, March 17, 2010 @ 9:51PM
"How sweet it is!" Mazeroski, Blass, Virdon, Tekulve, Sanguillen and Walk all on the diamond again – or at least close to it. Throw in Jeter, Sabathia, Emmerling, Mathieu and Knight, and you have the makings of the ultimate baseball fantasy – at least for me. After a whirlwind trip to spring training in Bradenton, Fla., this past weekend, I’m back on the ground here at home and ready to blog the experience. In an act of full disclosure, readers are forewarned that I’m not a baseball junkie, have limited knowledge about players, strategy etc., but nevertheless came away with a sense that a new era in Pirate baseball is dawning. Welcome to Jimmy’s world. You can visit but you can’t stay. Oh, how Pittsburgh Pirates fans wish they didn’t have to leave Jimmy’s world especially after the Bucs demolished the New York Yankees Sunday at McKechnie Field in Bradento.
