Bully beatdown

June 22, 2012 - Mike Mathison
As most people have seen, four boys decided to show their "manhood" and bully 68-year-old bus monitor Karen Klein on a school bus in upstate New York.

She said all she wanted was an apology.

The four boys have said they are sorry. Now, this is the cynic in me, but are they sorry for what they did, or are they sorry for getting caught?

So, where are the parents?

I know where they should be -- the bus monitors for next year, taking turns keep their kids, and those around them, quiet and respectful while on the bus.

I am grateful I haven't yet heard a parent say, "My son would never do that." Or, "That's not my son on the video, that's someone else."

An online support group has raised $500,00 for Klein and that is a great thing. There are a lot of people with kind hearts.

Next year, while the parents have bus monitoring duties, the four boys should spend all their "free" time during school performing manual labor -- cleaning dry erase boards, chalkboards, emptying trash, mopping spills, etc.....

Maybe, then, they will realize that, yes there is freedom of speech in this country, but there is also a price to that speech.

@RioBob- " So why haven't you written anything about the abduction and rape of a child in your community?"

Perhaps because the rape involved members of their precious football team? Gotta get your priorities straight after all. Like Nate Hubbard said to the New York Times:

"The rape was just an excuse, I think," "What else are you going to tell your parents when you come home drunk like that and after a night like that?” said Hubbard, who is one of the team’s 19 coaches. "She had to make up something. Now people are trying to blow up our football program because of it."

In any reasonable town or city, a POS like Hubbard would have been shown his walking papers by the end of the day. Not in Steubenville, apparently.

I too agree with everything you said about the events in upstate NY. So why haven't you written anything about the abduction and rape of a child in your community?
