The Friday Night Rants
August 24, 2013 - Paul Giannamore
I think I established a new part of my life for those Friday nights when I'm not in the newsroom.
It's the Friday Night Rants.
I just hopped out on Facebook and, as The Boss (at Home) fell asleep from her hard week of work, I summarized a couple of things that were just resting in the back of my head. The comments generated some lively conversation. And they give me a Saturday morning PabloG, admittedly though I posted it a bit late for some of you to have with your coffee.
I did edit one word in Friday Night Rant 1. See if you can figure out which one.
Friday Night Rant 1:
"Ben Affleck as Batman. Now THERE is a reason for the nation to get all gassed up. Not the NSA, not paying for the manwoman traitor's hormone shots (Snowden was defensing the Constitution, Manning actually got people killed), not thinking about arming one side or another of people who eventually will spit on us in Syria, Not people randomly killing people. Nah, Ben. Affleck. What a country. And today's NSA code words are trash, almond and citronella."
Friday Night Rant 2 (the result of reading a USAToday commentary about Tebow and Belichick):
"One more Friday night rant, this one against the NFL, where Tim Tebow will be screwed again, surely again with the excuse that he "lacks talent." Yah, and Zack Collaros lacked size. Here is what I think is the truth. Neither young man is thug enough to make it in the dirty, filthy world that is now the NFL. Not enough tatts. Not a set of long enough police records. Hell, I bet none of their inner circles have even been accused of murder. So, Tebow, who wins 8 as a rookie and beats the rapist-led Steelers (sorry, I just cannot still be a madman fan of what that team meant to me as a younger person and like Ole No. 7) and gets traded, benched and probably cut next, and Zack is off to Canada. Get some gang tatts. Shoot up a bar. Then the NFL will recognize your talent, boys."
There you have it. Friday Night Rants.
