Colliers school to hold open house
By CAROL CAIN, Brooke Scene correspondentJo-Ellen Goodall, principal of Colliers Primary School, has announced Colliers Primary School will hold an open house from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 and there will be a craft show there from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. that day.
Those interested in selling crafts should call (304) 748-8188.
Family pictures, by Kathleen and Paul's Portrait Gallery, also will be offered, and drawings will be held for gift baskets.
Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase computer equipment for the school.
Colliers PTA meets
The Colliers Primary School PTA met and officers and teachers at the school were introduced, with the group's president, Sabrina Fox, presiding.
The school's fourth-grade classes led the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was announced pupils' birthdays will be observed, with their names and pictures posted on the front bulletin board and a party each month. Boxtops and labels are being collected, and the theme for the Cultural Arts Reflections contest will be "Beauty Is..."
Members are needed for homeroom parents and clothes are needed for distribution to families in need through the Brooke County PTA Clothes Closet.
The PTA also welcomes new members. Room count was won by Karen Biela's class.

Winners of the Credit Union coloring contest at Colliers Primary School are Ethan Robey and Amanda Zonker.
Auxiliary sets
Christmas party
The Colliers Fire Department Auxiliary announced the community Christmas party will be held Dec. 12 at a meeting led by Phyllis Aria, president.
The party will include a visit by Santa and treats and gifts for children.
The group's fish frys have ended until spring and future fundraisers will be planned for 2010.
Anniversary cookbooks are still available for $6 each and may be purchased by calling Aria at (304) 797-1380 or Carol Cain at (304) 748-3155.
Helping Hands plan
holiday events
The Helping Hands of Colliers Christian Church met, with Gina Bailey and Melissa Tomes serving as hostesses.
Karen Welsh, the group's president, led devotions. The group set Dec. 1 for its Christmas party, with a gift exchange and the revealing of the Secret Pals for the year.
The church is planning a Thanksgiving dinner following services on Nov. 8.
Carol Cain will host next month's meeting, and Mary Barton will lead devotions.
The church's Christmas party will be held Dec. 13 and its Christmas program will be held Dec. 20.
Trappers plan
Christmas dinner
The Northern Panhandle Trappers Association set their Christmas dinner for Dec. 5 at a meeting led by Jack Cain, president.
Members will be asked to bring a covered dish and white elephant auction item.
The group's next regular meeting will be held Wednesday.
UMW sets goals
The Colliers United Methodist Women studied goals for the upcoming year at a meeting led by Laura Beckelhimer, president.
Devotions were led by Hope Daugherty, and Colossians 3:1-11, pertaining to what Christians should do, was studied.
The group will be selling tote bags as a fundraiser.
The meeting closed with a special altar service.
CEOS learn about health
Members of the Colliers CEOS Club, a chapter of the Community Educational Outreach Service, met at Colliers Christian Church, with Diane Strader, vice president, presiding.
Strader presented a lesson on exercising one's heart and lungs.
Devotions were led by Katy Gardei, and officers' reports were accepted. New officers will be elected at the next meeting.
The traveling gift was won by Sarah Tallman.
