OPINION: Fashion show kicks off spring

March 25, 2011
By JESS LOOMAN, Staff writer

Happy Friday, Wintersville.

As the weather is slowly changing into spring-like temperatures, the village's special events committee is offering village residents and surrounding residents a chance to kickoff the spring right. And what better way to do so than with the first village fashion show.

Who doesn't love fashion, right? Even those who aren't into the latest styles can appreciate browsing a variety of new and nearly new clothing and accessories.

The show will take place from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. April 9 at the Municipal Building. The various models will showcase active wear as well as bridal and formal wear for attendees.

Chairperson Dee Martin said any local clothing vendors or private designers are invited to enter and display their merchandise. There is no fee for vendors; however, a table, clothing rack and models are at the vendors' own expense. This is a deal local vendors can't miss to get their names and styles out into the village and surrounding areas.

Each vendor is allowed to enter 10 outfits for the fashion show, including women's, men's and children's items.

Those who are interested in displaying their goods can contact Dee Martin at (740) 424-5947, Alycia LaNeve-Olivio at (740) 264-6463 or Janine Gale at (740) 264-4239, or send an e-mail to wintersvillespecialevents@yahoo.com

Martin and her very dedicated group of special events members work hard all year long to make sure that village residents have a variety of activities to keep them busy as well to socialize with other residents and have an all-around good time.

Even if you aren't in the market to purchase clothing, the show serves as a great place to mingle and preview fashions for when you are ready. A little window shopping never hurt anyone.

Also, make sure to get out and support the Indian Creek High School freshman class during its annual rummage sale set from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the school's multi-purpose building.

Have a great weekend.
