OPINION: Best of luck in the future

June 10, 2011
The Herald-Star

Indian Creek High School recently awarded diplomas to more than 150 seniors during its annual commencement exercises held at the Franciscan University of Steubenville's Finnegan Fieldhouse.

Valedictorian Dhatri Kotekal and salutatorian Jordon Spence gave heartfelt speeches to their classmates, some of whom they have attended school with since kindergarten.

Kotekal told her classmates that their high school graduation was not the end, but the beginning. She said "we have to know the power to make very important choices, choices that show who we truly are, far more than our abilities."

Spence relayed that the four years of high school had been full of ends, including ends of trimesters, sport seasons and school years. He added, however, that until their graduation, nothing was really final.

These young adults have a bright future ahead of them, and that was apparent during a number of award assemblies held at the end of the year highlighting the classmates' achievements.

We congratulate the students of the Class of 2011 and wish them the best of luck in the future.
