STEUBENVILLE -Tri-State Financial Services, a full-service insurance and investment firm formed in 1985 and located in Jefferson County since 1991, will be recognized at Project BEST's annual holiday breakfast set Dec. 7 at Wilson Lodge, Oglebay Park, Wheeling.
Tri-State will receive the award in recognition of its decision to designate work done at the 3,000-square-foot office complex at 255 N. Third St., a Project BEST project.
Project BEST, the construction industry labor-management organization in the Upper Ohio Valley, represents more than 400 building trades contractors and 6,000 building trades craftsmen, apprentices and their families.
The breakfast is attended by individuals representing the public and private sector, including the steel, coal, aluminum and chemical industries as well the medical, educational and professional communities.
Ken Perkins, president of Tri-State Financial, said he was honored to receive the award, which he said usually is reserved for larger projects. He said Tri-State's investment is substantial for a firm of its size, though, adding he is pleased with the efforts of using all local union labor.
Tri-State purchased the property in July and took occupancy two months later after extensive renovations transformed the former auto dealership into an office suite.
Local architect Les Zapor designed the reconfigured office space, and Grae-Con Construction of Steubenville was the general contractor. IBEW Local 246 and Carpenters Local 186 were instrumental in the work being done, he said.
Tri-State Financial Services offers investments, employee benefits, insurance and annuities, business protection plans and personal financial needs such as estate planning, retirement planning, wealth accumulation and legacy and college funding strategies.
