To the editor:
Congratulations, Steubenville, for putting your best foot forward for Gov. John Kasich's State of the State events.
The excitement and hospitality shown to our state guests were exceptional and something in which to take great pride.
First, I salute the Steubenville City School system for producing the No. 1 elementary school in the state with Wells Academy. Second, I salute the students, teachers and staff for doing a great job in preparing Steubenville High School to be showcased. Upon entering the school, the students' patriotic decorations set the atmosphere for this historic event. The auditorium looked fantastic with the larger-than-life state flag backdrop, great lighting and sound system. From my vantage point from the balcony, everything looked great.
Also, I salute Steubenville Mayor Domenick Mucci and those who lent a helping hand with the two receptions held for state officials and local leaders. The well-planned and well-executed events provided great opportunities for the city and county to connect more with state officials.
I am sure area officials, agencies and groups were pleased with the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with state officials from the Ohio Board of Regents, Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, JobsOhio and Governor's Office to name a few.
Steubenville bask in the glory of a day well-done for it is deserved.
