Redskins roll past Weir

WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek softball team picked up a big home win Tuesday, downing Weir 11-1 in five innings.

Ashley Starr went the distance in the win, striking out six and giving up only three hits. At the plate, Starr helped her own cause with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Paige DeMattio smacked a home run to go with a double while driving in two runs of her own. Brey Mays added two singles, Abby Orr three singles, Paige Geanangel a double and an RBI, Mallorie Sullivan a single and Megan Markja a pair of singles.

Haley McLaughlin and Emiley Zatezalo each had a double for the Red Riders and Danica Rasicci had a single.

Indian Creek will host Union Local today and Weir will host Magnolia Thursday.

Brooke falls in four

WELLSBURG - The Brooke softball team held strong against powerhouse John Marshall through three innings, trailing only 3-0. The Monarchs exploded in the fourth frame though, scoring 11 runs en route to a 14-0, four- inning victory Tuesday at Brooke High School.

Kaylee Kuchinski, Kelsey Welsh and Michaela Hinerman each had singles for the Bruins.

Brooke's game today with Oak Glen is listed as a home game for the Golden Bears, but due to construction, the game will be played at Brooke High School.

Central gets win

LORE CITY - The Steubenville Central softball team traveled to Buckeye Trail and received a gem on the mound by pitcher Lara Householder in picking up a 12-0 five-inning win.

Householder went the distance, giving up only a leadoff single on the evening while striking out five and walking two. Catcher Taylor Clark stroked three doubles and drove in four runs for the Crusaders. Allee Vandeborne had three singles, Maddie Gulan had two singles and an RBI, Kayla Lloyd had two singles and two RBI, Tori Knight had a single and an RBI, Sammi Giannamore had two singles and Micca Mirabella had a single for Central.

The Crusaders travel to Toronto Thursday.

Huskies top Shamrocks

CADIZ - The Harrison Central softball team rolled past visiting Barnesville 13-0 Tuesday.

Katie Ellzy and Kara Dunfee combined for a one-hitter for the Huskies. Brooke Shultz had a double, two singles, and three RBI for Harrison at the plate. Ellzy helped her cause with a triple, a single and two RBI. Paige Dunlap, Kiley Staley and Katie Parkinson had two singles each with Dunlap driving in three runs. Staley and Parkinson each knocked in one.

Harrison Central hosts St. Clairsville Friday.

Central routs Monroe

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Central baseball team rode the strength of a 12- run third inning to defeat Monroe Central 19-7 in five innings Tuesday.

Joe DeFallo picked up the win for the Crusaders with Adam Lyons providing some support in relief. Steve Mihalyo had three singles with Jimmy Panella, David Bertoia and Branny Pieniazek each adding two singles. Brenton Colabella, Aleks Porreca and Kyle Laukert each had a single for the Crusaders.

Central is set to host Toronto Thursday.

Bruins top Knights

WELLSBURG - The Brooke boys tennis team came away with a 5-2 home win over Wheeling Central Tuesday.

Jackson Carey, Bryce Kesling and Ryan Mazan all picked up singles wins for the Bruins. The combination of Carey and Brian Gialluco, along with the pair of Brice Hickey and Josh Harrick, scored doubles wins for Brooke.
