Toronto softball wins late

TORONTO - The Toronto softball team held a 9-0 lead on Bridgeport after three innings only to see the visiting Bulldogs chip at the lead until the game was tied at nine before a seventh-inning RBI single by Shane Sears gave the Red Knights a 10-9 win Thursday.

Mariah Turner swung a big bat for the Lady Knights with a home run, double and five RBIs. Becca Schaming added two singles and Kayla Brown a double.

Toronto (11-9) is at Oak Glen Tuesday.

Toronto baseball rolls

TORONTO - The Toronto baseball team made quick work of visiting Bridgeport, 10-0 in five innings Thursday.

Ralph King scattered six hits in five shut out innings to pick up the win on the hill and helped his own cause at the plate with a single, double, and an RBI. Austin Lucas and John Romey each had two singles with Tyler Owens and Brad Melville each adding a double and an RBI. Spenser Sninchak and Tyler Antinone both had a single with Sninchak driving in a run.

Toronto (12-6) hosts Indian Creek today.

Redskins top Huskies

MINGO JUNCTION - Indian Creek handed visiting Buckeye 8 rival Harrison Central a 9-2 loss Thursday.

Jordan Yeater earned the win on the mound for the Redskins, giving up just two runs on five hits. The Creek offense was led by Sammy Orr with two singles, a double and two RBIs along with Anthony Davis' two singles and three RBIs and Zach Williams' two singles and two RBIs.

For the Huskies Ryan Rose had two singles, Hunter Yarnell a single and an RBI, and Drew Horn had an RBI.

Indian Creek travels to Toronto today.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Richard McGrath made a hole-in-one at Turkana Golf Course. The Toronto resident used a 7-iron on the par 3 13th hole. The witnesses were Mark McCart and Bo Kestner.

Griffith records an ace

CHESTER - David Griffith made a hole-in-one at Mountaineer Golf Course. He used a 9-iron on the 125-yard par 3 17th hole. The witnesses were James Baker and Ed Jones.
