SUA looking for umpires

STEUBENVILLE - An increase in demand means the Steubenville Umpires Association is looking for men and women who are interested in becoming umpires for the spring and summer baseball and softball seasons.

The association, one of the oldest officials' organizations in the state of Ohio, services baseball and fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball leagues from Avella to Jewett, and from Newell to Wellsburg.

Prospective umpires must be 16 or older.

Weir soccer boosters to meet

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Soccer Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. May 9 in the high school cafeteria.

Montgomery makes an ace

RAYLAND - Monty Montgomery of Wintersville recorded a hole-in-one Sunday on the 165-yard par 3 sixth hole at Fairway River Links Golf Course.
