HOPEDALE - The activity department at Gables Care Center has seen a change in directors with the departure of Marilyn Thompson, who has been serving in the director's capacity for four of the eight years that she has been employed at the facility.

Lynette White has been working herself into the position, serving at the center for more than a month.

The position includes arrangements for dinners for volunteers but most of all it means keeping the residents occupied with activities, such as playing bingo, forming a Red Hatters organization, holding coffee klatches and other events.

Harold Jones and Howie Scivinsky, a guitar playing and singing duo, entertained the group with songs.

Robert Brandt was recognized for being a worker for 14 of the 15 years the center has had volunteers. Calling bingo was one of his specialties.

Bonnie and Roger Logsdon are another pair who have been serving the center for almost as many years.

They have been singing gospel music and providing inspirational sessions over the years.

Frank and Margaret Gregory have been entertaining at the center for almost 15 years.

Deanna Thompson and Sandy Barnhardt, Jay Poillucci, Betty Ralston, George Nash, Debbie Grable, Sandy Boyd, Debbie Ingram, Jean Golladay, Laban Blackburn and Fay Rockaway were others recognized for their devotion to others.

"Thank you for your dedication to the residents over the years," Thompson said.
