STEUBENVILLE - Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to arrive in the city Wednesday evening and spend the night here before leaving Thursday morning for a campaign stop in Martins Ferry.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said he has been meeting with the Secret Service for the past week concerning Biden coming to Steubenville.
There are no public events in Jefferson County listed on the advance media notifications put out by the Obama-Biden campaign office.
Abdalla said Biden may decide to make stops around Steubenville, but there has been no decision made by the vice president or his staff. Abdalla said he couldn't release where Biden will be spending the night in Steubenville.
Biden is scheduled to be in Youngstown earlier Wednesday for a stop at M-7 Technologies, an advanced manufacturing facility. M-7 uses specialized measuring equipment and software to manufacture or repair heavy industrial products through reverse engineering.
Originally founded in 1918 to produce bronze castings for the U.S. steel industry, M-7 has transformed itself to include a 46,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing and research and development facility, according to the company's website.
Biden will visit Staffilino Chevrolet, a family owned auto dealership in Martins Ferry. The Obama-Biden campaign office said the dealership was saved by the bailout of the auto industry. His talk at the dealership is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
