RAYLAND - Buckeye Local High School's senior assembly was held recently and students were honored with recognition and scholarships.
Senior class officers opened the assembly with the pledge of allegiance, and Principal Coy Sudvary offered welcoming remarks.
The introductions of academic honorees began with Sudvary presenting awards and pins, as well as Liza Jones with the Hesske Family awards.
The Jefferson County Farm Bureau scholarships went to Faith Jancura and Ramsay Core.
Ramsay Core also received the Kelly McKim Smith Memorial Scholarship, and the Buckeye Local Board of Education Scholarship was awarded to Melissa Faulkner.
Caitlyn Davis was the recipient of the Eastern Gateway Community College Scholarship, and the Steven E. Strupe Memorial Scholarship was given to Kourtney Whitehead.
Tori Nest and Mark Carson were awarded the Kontogiannis Family scholarships, and Leah Figurski and Anthony Barsch received the Mount Pleasant High School Alumni Association scholarships.
The OAPSE Scholarships went to Caitlyn Davis, Jonecia Sindeldecker, Liza Jones, Melissa Faulkner and Malinda Whitaker. Casey Wiltshire was the recipient of the Nathan W. Finney Memorial Scholarship, and the Brilliant Lion's Club Scholarship went to Casey McGuire and Bethany Tinstman. The Mr. Robert Dalrymple Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Dana Bettineschi, while the Leon Berze Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Karissa Emery.
A.J. Barsch, Josiah Hannen and Nathan Kujawa received the Touchdown Club scholarships. Josten Dear was the recipient of the National Gold and Silver Refinery Scholarship, and the Buckeye Local Classroom Teacher Association Scholarship went to Melissa Faulkner.
Sydney Omaits, Tori Nest and Katie Ledfors were awarded Jessica Marie Mayle Memorial Volleyball scholarships, while Mikaela Collette, Valerie Zamski and Karissa Emery were awarded the Lucas McCracker Memorial Scholarship.
The Russ Moran Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Leah Figurski, and T.J. Hill was the recipient of the U.S. Army Scholarship.
The Franciscan University of Steubenville Scholarship was awarded to Jennifer Smith, and the Ohio University Eastern Scholarship went to Ramsay Dunn.
Classroom awards also were presented to students by the Buckeye Local High School staff.
Sydney Omaits received the Edward Stanko Memorial Scholarship. The Bill Mazeroski Scholarship was awarded to Dana Bettineschi, and Leah Figurski received the Dillonvale Alumni Scholarship.
Recipients of the University of Akron scholarships were Austin Ferguson and Nicole Kelley. Devin Delatore received the Muskingum University Scholarship, and Aerial Burkett was awarded the ITT Tech Scholarship.
The Charles M. Pugliese and Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation scholarships were awarded to Faith Jancura, Noel Adamson, Nicole Kelley and Casey Wiltshire.
Chelsey McCain was the recipient of the Doyle R. Weldon Memorial Band Scholarship. The Scott College of Cosmetology Scholarship went to Taylor Billingsley. Jessica Glasgow received the Special Friends Scholarship, and Chelsey McCain was awarded the Carolyn J. Pietrangelo Scholarship.
The Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe GOC Scholarship was awarded to Casey Wiltshire. Liza Jones was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4811 Scholarship, and Casey McGuire was the recipient of the Pepsi-Cola Scholarship.
