STEUBENVILLE -- City Council approved an ordinance Tuesday night to amend the city's table of organization that will eliminate of a police captain position and authorize the hiring of a night shift police dispatcher in order to put an additional police office on patrol.
The revised table of organization ordinance also eliminates the Parks and Recreation summer food kitchen staff and summer food program coordinator.
Recreation Director Troy Kirkendall recommended the elimination of those jobs because the recreation board has approved contracting the annual summer food program to Sodexho Food Services.
The council also approved a resolution to proceed with the placement of a five mill real estate levy on the November ballot.
The council approved an initial ordinance authorizing the levy renewal two weeks ago after three separate readings.
