To the editor:
I would like to praise two Jefferson County entities that have invested their vision and capital resources, to benefit the residents of our local communities.
First, I live adjacent to Friendship Park and have watched, in recent years, the vast improvements being made to the park. Over the years I have walked and rode my bike on the roadway and midway. I have watched numerous improvements being made, better access to electricity, addition of camping sites and walking trails. I hope these efforts continue. I attended the wine tasting event in 2011 and enjoyed the entertainment and the opportunity given to the vendors to show their wares. Kudos to the Jefferson County Park Commission, many local businesses and community supporters, who have taken this wonderful resource and are making the most of it.
Second, I just joined the YMCA Wellness Center located at the former St. John Arena. Another gem, being renovated for our community. I am proud to see Trinity Health System and the YMCA organization taking the initiative to develop a community resource for the betterment of our residents.
Let's keep taking these positive steps to make Jefferson County the best it can be.
