Dorothy Leach-Wells

LEACH-WELLS, Dorothy, age 92, was honored at a private memorial service on Saturday, July 14, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Born June 26, 1920, in Mineral Wells and reared in Weirton, WV, she was a 65-year resident of Bradenton, Florida, where she was a community leader in both art and politics. Mrs. Wells served on the Democratic National Committee for the State of Florida and attended the Carter inaugural ball.

Recognized as a cutting edge artist, art teacher, and gallery owner, she also exhibited in numerous galleries including the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. She was also a well-known Realtor in the 60's and a member of the National League of American Pen Woman when she worked at the Bradenton Herald. She was a published author, most recently releasing the title of "The Young Genius." Mrs. Wells and her husband were successful business owners of Wells Art Supply, Gallery and School as well as the Leach-Wells Antique and Art Gallery.

Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wells; her parents, Ira and Virginia Leach; and brothers Darrell Leach, Lester Leach, and Austin Leach.

She is survived by her sister, Audrey Vincent of Weirton, WV, and a loving extended family of nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice in Ellenton, Florida.
