ZAPOLNIK, Richard B., 58, of Steubenville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Banner Gateway Medical Center, Gilbert, AZ.
He was born January 20, 1954, in Steubenville. He is the son of Patricia Donley Zapolnik of Steubenville and the late John Zapolnik.
Richard retired as Assistant Fire Chief from the City of Steubenville Fire Dept after 29 years of service; was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, Polish Athletic Club and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School Class of 1972.
Richard is survived by his wife; Mary Jo (Kasko) Zapolnik whom he married January 3, 2011; brothers, David (Jo Ann "Bunny") Zapolnik, Derrell (Carol) Zapolnik and Larry Zapolnik. His father-in-law, Chester Kasko, sister-in- law, Joanne (Tim) Daugherty, brother-in-law, David Kasko. Nephews, Jacob (Katy) Zapolnik, Jared (Heather) Zapolnik, Andrew Zapolnik, Keith Zapolnik, and niece, Casey Zapolnik.
Calling hours are Sunday 3-6 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated noon Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Bradley Greer, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
