McMASTERS, Madlyn, age 81 of Weirton, WV, formerly of Moundsville, WV., died Friday, July 27, 2012 in Weirton Medical Center.
She was born December 11, 1930 on Fork Ridge, Marshall County, WV., the daughter of the late Brooks and Dorothy McCracken Polen.
Madlyn held leadership positions with The Association for the Retarded; The Mental Health Council; and the former Mound Builders Treatment Center, where she served at the request of the Co- Commission, as the interim director.
She was a former president of First Ward and Marshall County PTA's; elected treasurer of the WV Congress of Parents and Teachers; WV Juvenile Protection Chairman; and State Director of the Judicial Concern for Children in Trouble Project; a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ; where she served the Moundsville Congregation as Deaconess and secretary of the official board; and after transferring to the Weirton First Christian Church, she was Deaconess, Elder, and was honored by Elder Emeritus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dale McMasters.
Survivors include a daughter, Dotty (Jerry) Kupsky of Grove City, OH; three granddaughters, Beth (Scott) Pierce of Kettering, OH, Jenni Kupsky, and Cathy Kupsky, both of Grove City; four great- grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, Charlie and Danica; and numerous cousins.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11a.m. at Weirton 1st Christian Church, 3252 Main St., Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Weirton 1st Christian Church.
