MERRITT, Hobart J. (Jim) passed on July 29, 2012.

Jim was born in Nitro, West Virginia to Leonard and Evelyn Merritt and grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia.

He served in the United States Army for three years with the Signal Corp and worked in the Weirton Steel Tin Mill retiring after 38 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty.

He is survived by his loving brother and sisters; Sonny and Patty Merritt, Garnet Tout and Peggy Hagen, who affectionately called their younger brother Jimmy, and all of their children; his beloved wife Roxie and their cherished sons and their wives, Shawn and Karen, Kelly and Michele and Dale and Stephanie and all their children. Jim felt his grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, Devin and Nicole were gifts from God and they were the light of his life. He also leaves his brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

He wanted them to know he loves them and was blessed to have them in his life. His journey of the past three years was made easier because of the love and prayers he received from them.

A private memorial service officiated by John Ater, minister, will be held for the family. Any Memorial gifts may be directed to Valley Hospice, 10686 Ohio 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
