BEZAK, Mary "Baba," 96, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and most recently a resident at the Laurels in Steubenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Ann (Sabol) Zadanski.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Bezak, on March 24, 1971; two brothers, George and John Zadanski; two sisters, Anna Seifriend and Betty Mixon; and a great-grandson, Mitchell Hass.
Mary was a homemaker and she enjoyed cooking and loved canning. She was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Mingo Junction. At the Laurels she was a member of the Red Hats and charter member of the Laurel Songbirds.
Surviving are four sons, Dr. Nicholas Bezak of Clarion, PA, Edward (Carla) Bezak of Steubenville, Ohio, James (Peggy) Bezak of Worcester, Vermont and Sam (Holly) Bezak of Mingo Junction; two daughters, Loretta "Jean" (Kenneth) Hass of Weirton, WV, and Suanne (Drexel) Dawson of Wintersville, Ohio; three sisters, Agnes Fowler of Stow, Ohio, Helen Runyan of Boise, Idaho and Margaret (Luther) Hudson of Canal Fulton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Stephen, Michael, Jimmy, Christy, Jason, Nedra, Adam and Rita; and 10 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Peter, Benjamin, Megan, Nicole, Nathan, Nicholas, Gavin, Arabella and Jacob.
Mary was blessed to have two special daughters-in-law, Holly and Carla, who gave her exceptionally good care and love during her illness.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. On Tuesday, friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Mingo Junction, with Fr. John Kopcha officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
