CARVER, Gertrude, 98, of Cadiz, OH, formerly of Brilliant, OH, passed away Sunday August 5, 2012, in the Harrison County Nursing Home, Cadiz
She was born on February 23, 1914, in Martins Ferry, OH, a daughter of the late Emmett and Mary Jane Schrader Snodgrass.
Gertrude was a seamstress by trade. She was a member of the Brilliant Christian Church and she attended the Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Harrison County Farm Bureau; was an active member of the Jefferson and Harrison County Democratic Party; and enjoyed bowling with the "Alley Cats," singing with the "Gospel Keys," knitting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carver; a daughter, Joyce Ann Muze Bane; a grandson, a step-grandson; and 11 brothers and sisters, Isabel, Adah, June, Glenn, William, Daisie, Glada, Norma, Vivian, Lawrence and Harold.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Sommer of Steubenville, OH and Jayne (Keith) Wallace of Cadiz, OH; a son, Francis (Connie) Russell of Laurel, Montana; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grand children; two step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Mehl, officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
