Marilyn Walters stayed busy Saturday dishing out apple dumplings during the 40th annual Smithfield Apple Festival. Walters said she was the leader of the Apple Dumpling Gang who are permanent fixtures at the fall event in Smithfield. The festival continues today with the Big Wheel race on Main Street at 1 p.m. and concludes with the Great American Bed Race at 5 p.m. -- Dave Gossett
