President James Freiling presided for the September dinner meeting of the Mingo Lions Club that was held at Harmony United Methodist Church in Mingo where District Gov. Beth Johnson was a guest.
Bill Snyder gave the opening prayer.
Johnson commented on her goals for district clubs, which include:
With Terry Snyder interested in starting a Leo club, the governor gave her information. She also spoke on the vision screener; recruiting club members; the importance of eye testing for children; and noted the district convention will be held April 5-6.
Zone 5 Chair Jim Everson and Brilliant Lion's Club President Ralph Nickoson were guests. Everson said the next Lions Club zone meeting will be held Nov. 19 at Zalenski's with the Richmond Lions Club serving as host.
The Brilliant Lions and First United Presbyterian Church in Brilliant will hold a turkey dinner Oct. 23, it was announced.
Clara Sue and Leroy Milewsky took 56 pairs of used glasses to the Lions Collection Center.
The Aug. 29 zone meeting was attended by five members, including Freiling, the Milewskies, Bill Snyder and Terry Snyder.
A shirt was presented to Jeff Schuetz in appreciation of his help with the club's stand at the Mingo Commumnity Days Block Party.
Johnson presented Freiling and Clara Sue Milewsky with her governor's pin.
Dr. William Johns gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be held Oct. 15.
