The Fort Steuben Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold an information workshop at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the First Christian Church, 3252 Main St., Weirton.
The event will help prospective members with doing research and application papers.
Those interested in attending should call (742) 729-3403 by Oct. 17 so there will be enough materials on hand.
Hyland to speak
at Man to Man
Dr. John A. Hyland, radiation oncologist at the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, will be the featured speaker at the "Man to Man" Prostate Cancer Support Group on Thursday at the center located at 3204 Johnson Road, Steubenville.

at Bray's Chapel
Bray's Chapel United Methodist Church located on county Road 56, Costonia, will be the site of "a rummage sale for baby Emma Grace."
It will be held Friday and Saturday, both days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be household items, decor items, books, collectibles and baked goods.
All proceeds will go toward hospital expenses for Emma Grace, a preemie born at the end of July to church Pastor Russ and Angela Miller. She was under 1 pound and now weighs 5 pounds. She already has undergone heart valve surgery and continues to remain in Akron Hospital until sometime in November.
In conjunction with National Adopt a Shelter Pet Month, Hounds' Haven Inc. will hold a two-day Adopt-A-Pet event Saturday and Sunday at Pet Supplies Plus in Steubenville, both days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Would-be adopters can stop to see and play with a variety of healthy dogs and cats. All animals have been vet-checked, tested for disease and vaccinated, and all adult pets have been spayed or neutered. No on-site adoptions are permitted, but those interested can claim their new pet at the shelter.
Line dancing at
Line dancing lessons will be held Thursday and Oct. 25 at the East Springfield Community Center from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Emma Anderson will be the instructor. Cost is $4.

The Jefferson County 4-H Volunteer Recognition Banquet and Auction will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School.
"Be Your Favorite Character" is the theme for the banquet, with those attending asked to come as their favorite character.
The 4-H Endowment Auction will be held, and attendees are asked to donate to the sale.

Four-H advisers, key leaders and some honored members will be recognized at the dinner.
Real Colors, a personality inventory, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Ohio State University/Jefferson County Extension's new office, located at Bantam Ridge School.
All youth 14 and over are invited to attend, with the 2012 junior leaders admitted free. All other youth will be $4. Reservations must be made by Nov. 1. Call the Extension office to register.
There will be an ice skating party Dec. 7, with further details coming later.
Cloverbud Camp members released balloons and heard back from the following areas: Hookstown, Cranberry Township, Mars, Racoon State Park, Baden, Cabot, Callery, Zelionople, Glade Mills and Wexford. It was noted that many of the balloons went in the direction of Pennsylvania.
Camera club exhibit at mall
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club is hosting its annual exhibit through Sunday at the Fort Steuben Mall Center Court near Macy's.
The Best of Show winners Melissa Bendle, prints, and Ruth Bovalina, slides, from the recent annual competition will have their pictures featured, along with all the competition's winning pictures.
This is the largest exhibit held by the club.
Those attending the exhibit can vote for a People's Choice Award.
A pancake breakfast for the dancers of the Brenda Casey Dance Center will be held from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Steubenville.
Characters will be present for photo opportunities, and there will be a Chinese auction.
