BERGHOLZ - The Bergholz man who escaped from the Eastern Ohio Correction Center Saturday evening has been apprehended.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department arrested Matthew D. Lanham Jr., 20, at about 9 a.m. today at the home of a family member on county Road 60 in Circle Green.

The sheriff's department said Lanham had served 67 days of a six-month sentence on theft-related charges from Carroll County when he climbed over a fence at the prison.

A sheriff's deputy said Lanham was sleeping on a couch at the time of his arrest and went willingly.
