Youth basketball program set

STEUBENVILLE -Officials with the city parks and recreation department announced a youth basketball program for grade school children will start in January and end with a March Madness Tournament.

Recreation Director Troy Kirkendall said the registration deadline is Nov. 23.

"We need coaches, players and officials for the program. The registration fee is $20 a child. Any questions can be directed to me at (740) 283-6000, extension 4000," said Kirkendall.

JVS school board meeting changed

BLOOMINGDALE - The Jefferson County Joint Vocational school board has changed its monthly meeting to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school.

The monthly meeting had been scheduled for Nov. 20.

Veterans Day program planned Friday

HOPEDALE - A Veterans Day program will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Harrison East Elementary School gymnasium.

Sgt. Eric Wilson, Harrison County Sheriff's Department D.A.R.E. officer and resource officer as well as a veteran, is organizing the event.

The speaker will be Tom Smith.

The Hopedale American Legion is participating in the program, and parents of pupils and the public are invited to attend.

Brilliant Legion set program Friday

BRILLIANT - Brilliant American Legion Post 573 will hold a Veteran's Day program at 10 a.m. Friday at Buckeye Local High School.

Awards for the winners of the Americanism and government contests in each grade will be distributed.
