STEUBENVILLE - "Annie Jr.," one of the best-loved family musicals of all time, is about to take center stage at the Berkman Theatre in Lanman Hall at Catholic Central High School.

The pupils of Bishop John King Mussio Junior High will perform the musical for two evenings beginning at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tickets for Annie Jr. are $7 for adults and $5 for students and pupils and can be purchased in the junior high office. Due to recent renovations in Lanman Hall, which were funded by the Berkman Foundation, all seating is reserved, and only pre-sale ticket holders will have their choice of seating. Tickets at the door will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Annie Jr." will be the first musical performed with all renovations completed in the Berkman Theatre, including new lighting, sound, curtains, refinished stage, carpeting and brand new seating.

"This is a project unlike any other we have taken on before," said director Helena Muckle. "In the past, we have done plays based on cartoon and fanciful characters, such as 'Aladdin' and 'Seussical.' This year, the pupils really had a challenge in front of them - they had to learn how to play the parts of adults and children in the 1930s, a task not easily accomplished. With much practice and many hours of hard work, they are ready to show Steubenville what's behind those curtains."

The school is at 320 Westview Ave. For information, call (740) 346-0028.
