John Sabo

SABO, John, 84, of Weirton died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Weirton Medical Center.

Born on December 21, 1927, John was a son of the late Charles and Susan Sabo. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Charles Sabo, and two sisters, Hazel Fotis and Margaret Meszeros.

John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Weirton Steel after 37 years of service, where he worked on the pickler lines in the Strip Steel.

He attended Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of the VFW 2716, Moose Lodge 688, and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret "Kay" Quaigg Sabo, whom he married on August 11, 1952; two sons, Patrick Quaigg (Helen) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and James Quaigg (Vicky) of Mingo Jct., OH; a daughter, Pamela Martin (James) of Follansbee, WV; a brother, Joseph Sabo (Mildred) of Minnesota; three grandchildren, William Quaigg (Rachel), Robert Quaigg (Paula), and Jason Quaigg (Nikki); three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Nicholas and Jonathan Quaigg; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The Rev. Fr. Manuel Gelido will preside.

Interment will follow at the Highland Hill Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV, with military services conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
