Wells trustees: $2,400 saved at pool

BRILLIANT - More than $2,400 was saved when the Brilliant Water and Sewer Department provided 328,000 gallons of water for the Wells Township swimming pool at no charge, according to a report given at a recent meeting of the Wells Township Trustees.

The savings totaled $2,446.05.

In other matters, Road Superintendent John Keyoski report that 35 mph speed limit signs are up on Buckingham Ridge. He also said the dip in Third Street has been fixed, and the bucket truck inspection has been done.

Also discussed was damage to Salt Run Road when Ohio American Energy moved equipment.

A motion was approved to have Solicitor Michelle Miller check the legal status of Wells Township Road 152.

Trustees approved a motion calling for Vince Dowdell to survey township roads when necessary.

Trustee Larry Owens reported a speed study for Plum Run will be done.

It also was noted that the road to Beech Flats is being used by construction equipment, and dust is a problem. Trustee John Cook mentioned the deterioration of Beech Flats roads.

A resident said Wells Township Road 503 needs to be patched at the intersection with state Route 151.

Trustees were asked if a microphone system could be obtained for the senior center, and estimates are being obtained.

A discussion was held about the gas station closing.

Elizabeth Cook, recreation director, said the senior citizens' dinner will be held Monday.

Two motions about meetings during December were approved. One is to have the trustees' second meeting of the month, set for Dec. 20, to begin at 6 p.m. The other is to have a special meeting at 9 a.m. Dec. 29 to approve year-end bills.

Trustees approved a motion to pay bills totaling $70,141.81.
