Band parents host spaghetti dinner

The Toronto High School Band Parents will host an Italian Fest spaghetti dinner from noon to 3 p.m. March 3 at Karaffa Elementary School. Spaghetti dinners are $7 each. Lasagna dinners are $8 each and available by pre-order only. Contact Julie Ault at (740) 424-8805 to pre-order a lasagna. Dinners will include a tossed salad and Italian bread. The Italian Fest menu also will include meatball sandwiches, wedding soup and a desserts. Tickets are available at the door or from any Toronto High School Band student.

Hill Top Presbyterian sets Ham dinner

A ham loaf dinner will be served Thursday at the Hill Top Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, county Road 46, Toronto, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be ham loaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, homemade pie and hot and cold beverages. Eat-in and take-out available. Donations accepted.

Activities at First Presbyterian

Sunday Sunday School begins at 9:40 a.m.; confirmation class at 9:30 a.m.; and worship begins at 11 a.m. Following worship a soup and bake sale will be held in the dining room.

Tuesday - The church council meets at 6 p.m.

Wednesday - Chi Rho meets at 4 p.m.; the chancel choir practice is at 7 p.m.

Thursday - The yarn ministry meets at 10 a.m.; Bible Study begins at 6 p.m.

Registration scheduled for schools

Toronto City Schools will host preschool and kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. on March 6 at Karaffa Elementary School, 1307 Dennis Way.

Children who are at least 3 years old on or before Aug. 1 are eligible for enrollment. Those turning age 5 before Aug. 1 are eligible for kindergarten. Parents must bring the child's birth certificate, current immunization record, Social Security card, proof of income and proof of residence.

School district financial report

The Toronto City School District financial statements are available for public view. Copies can be obtained by contacting Cheryl Vukelic, treasurer, at Toronto City Schools, 1307 Dennis Way, Toronto, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Riverview United Methodist events

The church office is open from 8 a.m. until noon Mondays through Fridays. For information, call (740) 537-2210. The Toronto Unit of the Salvation Army located in the Riverview Church is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For information, call (740) 537-4737.

North River Avenue Christian events

Sunday - The worship service begins at 9:45 a.m. At 10:45 a.m. the junior church worship service meets in the junior area downstairs. The service is for ages 5 to fourth grade. Sunday school begins at 11 a.m. The youth group meets at 6 p.m. The evening meditation service begins at 7 p.m.

Monday -The Boy Scouts will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday - Bible study will begin at 7 p.m. in the overflow room opposite the sanctuary. Adult choir rehearsal will follow at 8:15 p.m.

Sunday - The baby recognition service begins at 9:45 a.m. All babies born between Feb. 19, 2012, to Sunday will be recognized. There also will be a sing-a-long at 7 p.m. titled "Love Songs for the Lord."

First United Methodist activities

Sunday- Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.; the rise and shine contemporary service will begin at 8:30 a.m.; and the worship service begins at 10 :45 a.m. The Ringing Angels will perform during the service.

Monday - Bible study will be at 6 p.m. The administration council will meet at 7 p.m.

Tuesday - Bible study will meet at 10 a.m., while the Adventure Club will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday - The bell choir will meet at 6 p.m., while the choir meets at 7 p.m.

Thursday -T.O.P.S. will meet at 5:30 p.m.

Feb. 15 - T.O.P.S. meets at 9 a.m.

Prescription assistance program

Those between ages 18-64 who have no prescription drug insurance can call (740) 537-2210. Volunteers will help clients apply for low-cost or no-cost medications. The free program has providing assistance since 2002 at the Riverview United Methodist Church, 105 N. River Ave. Assistance is on the first Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. The entrance is handicap accessible. Those 65 or older and who have no prescription insurance are eligible. This is not a distribution center for medications, but a volunteer-based program that assists in filling out paperwork and sending applications to drug manufacturers. Once approved, clients begin receiving medications directly from companies in six to eight weeks.
