Ballo di Primavera celebration set

WINTERSVILLE - All are welcome to join the Italian American Cultural Club for its annual Ballo di Primavera social hour beginning at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and Ray Massa and the Eurorhythms for dancing Saturday at St. Florian Hall.

Tickets are available by calling Bill and Rita DiMarzio at (740) 264-4773 and at Pittera's Pizza, Scaffidi's restaurant, Celebrations and St. Florian Hall for $35 per person.

To avoid overcrowding, tickets will be limited. However, there will be some tickets available at the door. Tables for eight or 10 guest can be reserved. Part of the fun will include drawings and Italian baskets as door prizes.

For sponsorship of the eighth-annual Ballo di Primavera, call Lou Almonte at (304) 748-8181. Sponsorships cost $150 and include a full-page advertisement in the Ballo program; two tickets to the show; an advertisement appearing in the Una Serata Program in August; and on T-shirts that between 80 to 100 children receive in June during Campo Italian.

One of the most consistently sought-after musical variety acts, Ray Massa's Eurorhythms have dazzled audiences from coast to coast in the U.S., Canada and Italy. The band has been acclaimed for its ability to captivate the younger pop culture audiences while simultaneously thrilling established fans of classic Italian and swing music.

The Eurorhythms is comprised of Massa on the accordion, organ and vocals; Tony DiMelfi, lead vocals and trombone; Marco Capoccia, lead vocals and percussion; Brian Olsheski on saxophone; Giovanni Caprone on guitar, keyboards and vocals; Tomasz Jarzecki on drums, keys and vocals; Scott Belck on trumpet; and Jerry Parsons on bass guitar and vocals.

The Eurorhythms are featured nationally at Italian festivals from Brooklyn to Chicago to Portland, Ore. The Eurorhythms perform songs ranging from Italy's current pop scene to great Italian hits of all styles from the 1980s to the '50's, including"A Chi" or "Tu Vuo Fa L'Americano" and the band's own Italian version of "Hang On Sloopy." Other favorites the band performs include Louie Prima's swinging "Zooma Zooma Baccala," "Ce la luna" and "Buona Seram," along with traditional songs such as "That's Amore," "Oh, Mari" the "Tarantella," polkas, waltzes and more.
