Mary Marook

MAROOK, Mary Frances, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at her Henderson, NV, residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Burkburnett, TX, Mary was the daughter of the late Cecil and Pauline Holler.

Mary graduated from the Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX in 1945, with a BA in Business. After graduating from college, Mary moved to Steubenville, Ohio, and married her husband of thirty-five years, Joseph Marook, who preceded her in death in 1985. Together they owned and operated the J.P. Marook Company. Mary moved to Henderson in 1994 to be near her grandchildren. She was a member of Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Henderson, NV.

Mary was an active member of the American Guild of Organists for many years and was an accomplished musician; she served the Lord as an organist, soloist and choir director for several churches in Steubenville, Wichita Falls, TX, and Las Vegas. Mary loved her family, music, singing, reading, watching old movies, traveling and meeting people. She never met a stranger. She was an amazing cook who loved to prepare and enjoy great food. She will be remembered by those who love her for her kind, caring and generous spirit, as well as her genuine interest in the people she met during her journey through life.

She was preceded in death by her precious great-grandson, David Tuvell and beloved brother-in-law, Dr. Landon Spradlin.

Mary is survived by three children, Linda (Bill) Tuvell, Michael Marook and Jan (Alan) Maynor; four grandchildren, Christopher (Sherry) Tuvell, Cara Tuvell, Nicole Glaub and Brandon Glaub; five step-grandchildren, Brian (Bridget) Maynor, Brent (Rhianna) Maynor, Rachel (Brandon) Robbins, Emily Maynor and Sarah Maynor; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Fyock, Joseph Tuvell and Jordan Zambalis and two step-great-grandchildren, Brodie and Jolene Maynor.

She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Jean (Vincent) Hoing and Caroline Spradlin, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, from 3-7 p.m. at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, NV, Dr. Kenneth C. Harper officiating. Luncheon for family and guests will be held at the church immediately following the service; graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Palm Eastern Mortuary.
