John Anthony Spadafora

SPADAFORA, John Anthony, Sr., 91, passed away on April 3rd, 2013, at Wyngate Senior Living Community.

John was born on December 26, 1921 to Maria Theresa Biafore and Frank Spadafora in Dillonvale, OH.

He was the second youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by his mother, father and six of his siblings, Anthony, Vince J., Samuel and Rose Spadafora, Mary Spadafora Dolfi and Angela Spadafora Ciotti Arlia. His younger brother, Frank and his wife, Donna, currently reside in Englewood, FL

John graduated Weir High School, Weirton, WV in 1939, and served in the Navy as 1st class Machinist Mate during World War II including the Battle of Normandy.

His career included owner-operator of Spadafora Insurance Agency as well as auto body mechanic and school bus driver. He retired after 35 years in the insurance business and was an avid bowler.

John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anita Cooke Davis Spadafora and his three step-children, Jennifer Dankoski of CT, Tamra Vale Davis of Weirton and Chad Jeremy Davis of GA.

John was preceded in death by his former wife, Alma Sue (Pattillo) Spadafora and survived by their three children, Carolyn Sue (Spadafora) Cox and her husband, Randall W. Cox of Mt. Dora, FL; John A. (Skip) Spadafora, Jr. and his wife, Donna (Roberts) Spadafora and Deborah Eileen Spadafora of Weirton, WV. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 23 great- grand children.

Family will greet friends for visitation at the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene at 475 Colliers Way Saturday, April 6, 2013, between 2-4 p.m.

Funeral services will follow immediately after at 4 p.m. at the Church. Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard following the service.
