David Ray Tantlinger Sr.

TANTLINGER, David (Dave) Ray Sr., age 80, of Wintersville, Ohio, died April 8, 2013, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, after a long illness.

He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Frank and Mabel Constable Tantlinger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Bigler Jones.

He was a graduate of Hopedale High School and attended the Ohio State University. He took great pride as a farmer at the farm of his parents. Later, he became employed at Wheeling Steel in October, 1955, retiring in January, 1993.

He was a member of the Christian Church of Unionport, Ohio and served the Lord in many ways throughout his life from Sunday School superintendent to trustee and elder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Blue Lodge, Unionport 333, an Aladdin Shriner as well as a member of The Scottish Rites and Eastern Stars Chapter 360.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Sally) Tantlinger, whom he married June 27, 1957, in Steubenville, Ohio; a son, David Ray Tantlinger, Jr., of Solon, Ohio; two daughters Kathy Jo Lynch of Zelienople, PA and Ruth Ann (Greg) Saunders of Bloomingdale, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren complete the family.

Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd. Wintersville, Ohio, on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. including a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Calling hours will resume on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Reverend Hubert Granger officiating.

Entombment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
