April 25, 2013
The Herald-Star

The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary met April 8 at the Serbian American Cultural Center, with President Joan Spano presiding.

Maxine Ragan gave the invocation while Marcy Spano gave the devotions, reading "He Loves You - and Always Will."

Secretary Carol Lyons read thank-you letters from the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville. The auxiliary sent birthday cards to nine residents in April and March. Boatsie's Boxes sent a thank-you letter for Easter cards, snacks and hygiene products collected for active duty troops by the auxiliary. The Tri-State Young Marines sent a letter thanking the auxiliary for a monetary gift.

Joan Spano gave the Sunshine report that included the announcement that Easter cards were sent to service members with local ties.

The auxiliary made a donation to the Weirton Chamber of Commerce's Class of 2013 for the Veterans Memorial Park on Weirton Heights.

The group will be sending out letters about their no-bake bake sale in May and June. Members were encouraged to remember their secret pals.

Peg Dawson won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the treasury. The group will order a wreath for Memorial Day, and Treasurer Maxine Ragan will place it.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the cultural center.
