FOLLANSBEE - With 125 varieties of jumbo wings on its menu, Sheila's Place is working hard to live up to its slogan, "Your Wing Connection."

But the restaurant at 150 Rockdale Road on Hooverson Heights soon will be adding fried chicken, assorted sandwiches and salads and soft-serve ice cream, all served in a family-friendly environment, said co-owners Sheila Rine and Rich Hardesty.

The restaurant is 100-percent smoke-free and the pair have opted not to include alcohol among its beverages because they want it to be welcoming to local families, Hardesty said, adding they have received positive response from local residents since the shop opened earlier this year.

LOTS OF WINGS AND MORE — Rich Hardesty and Sheila Rine, co-owners of Sheila’s Place, are ready to serve up 125 varieties of jumbo wings and soon will add fried chicken, assorted sandwiches and salads and soft-serve ice cream to the menu. Sheila's Place offers wings in a variety of flavors, from mild to very hot and in such exotic styles as cajun, sweet and sour, taco and barbecue and honey teriyaki. Among the most popular so far are the standard hot, garlic and honey lemon pepper wings, said Rine.

A complete list can be found at the restaurant's website at www.sheilasplace.webs.com.

Rine added they strive not only for variety but also quality.

"The wings are never frozen, never pre-cooked," she said.

Also on the menu at this time are chicken tenders and nuggets, jojos and fries, assorted breaded vegetables and other appetizers. But it soon will expand to include fried chicken, burgers, fish sandwiches, salads and soft-serve ice cream served in cones, sundaes, banana splits and shakes.

"We're very excited about it," said Hardesty, adding he hopes the ice cream will help to cement the restaurant's reputation as a family restaurant.

"It's a family-oriented business, and our families are running it," he said.

Hardesty has owned and operated Your Auto Connection in Wellsburg since 1994. Rine served up fried chicken and other food at the Korner Kupboard convenient store for 12 years before it closed when its owner retired.

Hardesty and Rine met when their teenage children began dating and decided to pursue the new business venture together.

"Our spouses (Kim Hardesty and Joe Rine) and kids are all involved," said Hardesty, noting the restaurant's staff includes Kelsey and Kristi Hardesty and Cody, Amy and Wesley Rine. Sheila's Place is no stranger to large take-out orders, having served up more than 4,000 wings on Super Bowl Sunday.

And as summer approaches, Sheila's Place is accepting orders for graduation parties, reunions and other special occasions. The restaurant also is available for parties of up to 40 upon appointment.

Sheila's Place is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For information, call (304) 527-7314.
