Tickets for Stars and Stripes show on sale today

STEUBENVILLE - Tickets for the third-annual Stars and Stripes Concert went on sale at noon today, officials with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce said.

The June 30 show, which will feature singer-songwriter Phil Vassar with special guests the Todd Jones Band and the Joseph Sisters, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in Harding Stadium.

It will be a part of the third-annual Stars and Stripes Concert and Festival, which will include events at the Harding practice field and in the parking lot near Kroger in Hollywood City Center. Hollywood City Center is the title sponsor of the event.

Advance tickets are priced at $20 for field seating and $15 for general admission bleacher seating. Tickets purchased the day of the concert will cost $20 for general admission bleacher seats and $25 for field seating.

Tickets can be purchased on the chamber's website, www.jeffersoncountychamber.com; at area Kwik King stores on Main Street in Wintersville, North Seventh Street in Steubenville, Franklin Street in Toronto, Main Street in Follansbee and Three Springs Drive in Weirton; at Peoples National Bank locations on East Main Street in Adena, Union Street in Mount Pleasant and Smithfield Street in Dillonvale; at the customer service desk at the Fort Steuben Mall; at the Steubenville Visitors Center on South Third Street in Steubenville; and at the chamber offices at 630 Market St., Steubenville.

Vassar is a singer-songwriter who is best known for his hits "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "Carlene." The up-and-coming Todd Jones Band has the popular hit "Sittin' in Atlanta Station," while the Joseph Sisters have been performing around the Tri-State Area, as well as side stage performances at Jamboree in the Hills.

The concert series has been well received by the community and supported by local businesses, chamber officials said.

There is no charge for the festival portion of the event, which will open at noon at the practice field and will include a variety of food and nonfood vendors. It will feature a family fun zone, which will be sponsored by the Fort Steuben Mall; free BMX stunt shows sponsored by Jim Davis Enterprises; and a car show sponsored by First Class Customs.

Iron City Distributing and Choice Brands of Ohio will host the beer garden, which will feature live entertainment by Rose Angelica, who will sing "Girls Like to Drink Beer."

The evening will conclude with the city's annual fireworks display above Hollywood City Center.
