CADIZ

The Cadiz Women's Golf Association held its annual invitational on June 19 with many local women golfers participating.

A two-person scramble was the competition with the following winners:

First flight: team No. 1, Paula Hope and Vickie Grant; team No. 2, Lori Szymanek and Cindy Montgomery; team No. 3, Joyce Berdine and Chris Muroski.

Second flight: team No. 1, Signa Findlay and Laura Froehlick; team No. 2, Kathy Sapp and Ruth Lamantia; team No. 3, Patty Filak and Cathy Ralston.

Third flight: team No. 1, Vivian Tuscan and Joann Watson; team No. 2, Cheryl Black and Linda Caputo; and team No. 3, Eleanor Kindsvatter and Ann Eroshevich.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Ginny Ferrell.

Following lunch, chairman Marlene Holloway welcomed all guests and thanked her committee members, who included Nep Rowland, Joann Watson, Betty Thompson, Ann Milleson, Nancy Beckert, Dolores Ginier, Doris Harman and guest Karen Sims.

The June 26 hostess will be Nep Rowland. Tee times begin at 9 a.m.

SPRING HILLS

Spring Hills Ladies played "Throw Out Two Worst Holes" on June 13. The winners were:

A flight, Dru Fleishour with a 30.

Second place was Mary DiMichael with a 33.

B flight, Amy Mader with a 31 .

Second place was Erin Mader with a 33.

C flight was a four-way tie between Judy Sorrenti, Tammy Cox, Eleanor Kindsvatter and Mary Alice Myers.

Low Putts for the night was Sharon Colman with 15 putts.

Long Drive on

Closest to the Pin in Two

STEUBENVILLE

After four rounds of 18-hole competition, the President's Cup tournament of the Steubenville Country Club Women's Golf Association was decided with co-champions being crowned. The winner of this highly regarded competition is the golfer with the best three out of four net scores.

At a luncheon following play, YangJa Koh, last year's President's Cup winner and chairman for this year's tournament, announced that both Dianna Adams and Theresa Metcalf won the President's Cup with a net score of 226 for three 18-hole rounds.

The nine-hole golfers also participated in their own President's Cup tournament with Dotty Tegano and DeeDee Scugoza sharing the honors with a net score of 119 for three nine-hole rounds.

The weekly event was one best ball for the 18-hole golfers with Koh and Metcalf as chairmen. Adams and Renee Morelli won first place with a score of 59. Koh and Charlene Freshwater took second place with a score of 62. Winners for low putts were Adams in the first flight and Freshwater in the second flight. Morelli recorded a chip-in on No. 7 to win the money cup.

Weekly winners in the nine-hole group were Tegano, low gross and putts, and Natalie Straus, low net.

This week's game will be the Pro's Choice for nine holes with one/half handicap. Eighteen-hole golfers are to show up at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start, and nine-hole golfers will report at 9 a.m. for a 9:30 a.m. tee-off.

WILLIAMS

The Williams Ladies Golf Association held a Low Gross Low Net Tourney with Maribeth Arlia taking the winning prize in first flight with a score of 87.

Jenny Epifano took low net in first flight with a score of 71.

Second flight low gross went to Sue Sakara with a score of 104, and a tie for low net between Rita Kohn and Phyllis Phillips with scores of 79.

Flight three low gross was Vi Stein with a score of 115, and Toni Vosseler for low net with a score of 77.

Skill prize for longest drive in the fairway on hole No. 14 with first flight winner Epifano, second flight was taken by Alicia Myers, and Vosseler took the third flight prize.

Assistant Pro Jason Smoljanovich figured and announced the winners and, following their luncheon, held a one-hour lesson for the women on chipping and putting.

This week's play will be "Beat the Pro" with all players asked to call the Pro Shop to be listed for play.
