BLOOMINGDALE - Future funds from the state for school operations were discussed during Tuesday's Jefferson County Joint Vocational School Board meeting.

Dale Edwards, superintendent, told board members the school would receive no increases in funding from the state for the next two years.

"We're going to receive no increases (in funding from the state) for 2014 or 2015," said Edwards, adding that news gave the board the green light to again place a 1-mill, seven-year operating levy before district voters in November. "That news made it pretty easy for the board to pass the resolution to (place the proposal) on the November ballot."

Edwards has said at previous board meetings the funds are needed to replace the roof at the school along with purchasing new technology needed for student training. The same proposal recently was rejected by district voters in the March primary.

In other business:

Edwards told school board members the district received a visit from an official from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in May. His purpose was to determine if the school is meeting the established environmental standards.

"(The official) determined we were in compliance with all state regulations," said Edwards.

The board approved the reassignment of Kelly Prokopakis from instructional aide to student monitor.
