Golf scramble to aid foundation

The second-annual Children's Bereavement Foundation four-man golf scramble will be held Aug. 10 at Spring Hills Golf Course in East Springfield.

The fundraiser will include a $10,000 hole-in-one cash prize sponsored by Prestige Video Productions.

The fee is $60 per person and includes lunch on the turn and a steak dinner. There also will be door prizes and a 50-50 drawing.

The Wintersville-based Children's Bereavement Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping bereaved parents through the financial burden of the loss of their child, according to its website. "We believe that every Angel deserves to be honored and have his or her life celebrated by the wishes of the mourning family. Since we can't ease the burden of suffering, we hope to ease the financial one."

Brittany Lamp is the foundation's president and founder.

WHS Class of 1964 planning reunion

The Wintersville High School Class of 1964 reunion planning committee met June 4 to discuss plans for its 50-year reunion to be held Aug. 16, 2014.

Members attending were Sandi Thorn Rue, Kathy Pyles Furda, Sherilyn Boughers Townsend, Lola Dornbusch Swanagan, Sandy Sommers Reducha, Jerry Boyd and Steve Wachenschwanz.

The group chose the location for the ice breaker to be held the night before the reunion and voted to have meetings on the fourth Friday of every month until all plans are finalized.

The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Zalenski Family Eatery and Pub in Wintersville. All class members are invited to attend and help locate addresses of classmates.

Polish Hill reunion canceled

The Polish Hill/St. Stanislaus reunion has been canceled.

It will begin again next year, according to a news release. For information, call (740) 381-0100.

Wells Township seniors to meet

The Wells Township Senior Citizens will hold their monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Friday at the Wells Township Community/Senior Center located on Steuben Street, Brilliant.

There will be door prizes, a 50-50 drawing and fellowship.

Covered dishes are welcomed. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided,

Reading club wrapup party Saturday

The summer reading club wrapup party sponsored by the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the main library.
