CHESTER - Four Weirton fraternal orders will vie for a traveling trophy in the Fraternal Order Challenge Aug. 18 at the Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course.
Those participating include the Weirton Elks Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose, Knights of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Police.
The challenge will include two-man teams in a scramble format. Scoring will be match play and there will be a money hole on No. 5. The shotgun start is 9 a.m. with pre-registration, coffee and donuts at 8 a.m. Hot dogs and light beverages will be available during the challenge, followed by a steak dinner at Woodview. The cost is $60 per player, cash only, at the lodge or at the golf course. Members can call their respective lodge for information or to register.
The fraternity with the best score will win the traveling trophy for one year. The challenge was created and organized by Shawn Rybka, a Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 member.
"The Fraternal Order Challenge is for bragging rights and for the fraternal lodges in Weirton to get together and have fun," said Rybka.
