WELLSBURG - A 44-year-old Wellsburg resident was killed around 3 p.m. Wednesday when the flatbed truck he was operating on Brady's Ridge Road overturned.

Brooke County Sheriff's deputies said the driver, Thomas Hukill, was hauling a piece of heavy equipment when the accident happened.

Brady's Ridge Road connects Washington Pike with Bethany Pike, a dispatcher said.

Council to approve electric supplier

MINGO JUNCTION - Village Council has scheduled a special meeting for 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building to select an electricity supplier under the village's electric aggregation program.

John Ney, an energy consultant with World Energy, said he has received about seven proposals for the electric rates. One proposal came in at the rate Ney said will save the average residential electric customer more than $170 a year.

If council selects an electric supplier on Monday, Ney said the program will go into effect with the October meter readings.
