Peace movement walks continue

The United Peace Movement walks are weekly and will continue through August on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. to walk to end violence and bring peace, according to a news release.

Come September, UPM will meet at Agape church on South Street, Steubenville.

Class of 1964 reunion plans continue

The Wintersville High School Class of 1964 reunion committee met July 26 to continue plans for the 50-year reunion.

Members attending included Sandy Sommers Reducha, Signa Carrocci Findlay, Steve Wachenschwanz, Sherilyn Boughers Townsend, Kathy Pyles Furda, Janet Terpenning Sharp, Charla Tennant McDonald and Lola Dornbusch Swanagan.

Several classmates' addresses were confirmed with the rest hoped to be found by the next meeting set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 23 where discussion will include the menu and favors. All classmates are invited to attend.

The committee also is encouraging all classmates to attend the Wintersville High School All School Reunion to be held Saturday at Aladdin Land. Attendees are to bring a covered dish and be there to eat at noon but come earlier to visit.

Sycamore's Thursday lunches return

Sycamore Tree Church located at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, will hold a soup and sandwich sale from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday.

The menu will include wedding, vegetable or chicken tortilla soup by the cup for $2 or bowl for $3; hot turkey sandwiches or sloppy joes for $2.50; hot dogs for $1.50 (50 cents more for a coney); a brownie or peanut butter cake for 50 cents; and drinks for 50 cents.

Orders can be e-mailed by 10 a.m. Thursday to www.sycamoretreechurch.com and should include a phone number and address to specify pickup or delivery. After 10 a.m. Thursday, place orders by calling (740) 282-0997.

One free delivery is made to the Weirton Half Moon area around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and to Trinity West around noon.
