Kathy's parents now live in Cumming, GA, but were both born and raised in Peekskill where they and Kathy's grandparents, Michael and Josephine Pelaia and Russell and Margaret Hoffman who have predeceased her, were long-time residents.

Kathy graduated from Walter Panas High School near Peekskill and Endicott College near Boston. After leaving college she entered the travel industry through which she met her husband, Peter G. Martin, who she married on August 27, 1988.

Kathy and Peter moved to the Belle Mead section of Montgomery in 1996 and then to Skillman in 2004. Kathy was the loving mother to Lindsay, Tucker and Patrick all of Skillman, NJ. Kathy was an avid organizer and volunteer serving on numerous school committees and area organizations over the years.

She was most recently a trustee for the Van Harlingen Historical Society and a member of the Montgomery Township Landmarks commission.

She most cherished her involvement in our town's effort to help with a fund raising effort to help defray medical expenses for the daughter of good friends.

For her involvement in the Hope for Hope Charity, she received a "Daily Points of Light" award from President Bush Sr. on February 11, 2005.

She was an artist, photographer, gardener and a jewelry maker who was issued a U.S. patent for one of her jewelry clasp designs. She loved to travel and spend time with friends and especially her family.

In addition to her parents, husband and children, she is survived by her siblings Elaine Pelaia of Roswell, GA, Michael Pelaia and his partner, Greg Bruner of Decatur, GA, Carole Pelaia of Beacon, NY and Christopher Pelaia of Smyrna, GA. She is also survived by her mother- in-law, Jeanne Martin of Freeland, WA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynne and George Simon of Evanston, IL, Beth and Bob Wright of Coupeville, WA and Bill and Sue Martin of Waxhaw, NC along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their children, loved all the same. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Rest easy my Love and my Best Friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of Kathy's favorite non-profit organizations, the Van Harlingen Historical Society, Montgomery Emergency Medical Service or Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department 2.

A visitation with the family open to all will be held Sunday, August 25 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hillsborough Funeral Home on Route 206 and a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26 at 10 a.m. at the Harlingen Church, Route 206 at Dutchtown Road.
