James R. Tucker

TUCKER, James R., 89, of Weirton, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born June 26, 1924, in Richwood, WV, a son of the late James Owen and Laura Bell Stull Tucker.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Kathleen Young Tucker; brother, Eugene Tucker and a sister, Arheta Smithson.

In 1986, after 36 years of service, James retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a machinist in the tin mill.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

An avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, James's favorite pastimes included playing with his grandkids, golfing with his friends, and taking walks.

He was a member of the New Cumberland Lodge 22 A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling, Osiris Shrine, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, AARP and the WSX 25-Year Club.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his sons, James Tucker and his wife, Mary Ann of New Cumberland and Tim Tucker and his wife, Donna of Weirton; four granddaughters, Tiffany Devore and her husband, Joshua, Jamie Stierwalt and her husband, James, Shannon Tucker Matish and her husband, Philip and Erin Tucker and great-grand children, Landon, Airiana and Braedon Landfried, Caleb, Logan, Kaitlyn and Alexa Devore and Liam Matish.

Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday.

Rev. Dana Snodgrass will officiate.

Interment will follow in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV, with Masonic services conducted by the A.F.&A.M New Cumberland Lodge 22.
