STEUBENVILLE - The city health department is offering free and anonymous HIV testing from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sept. 13.

City Health Commissioner Patty Reda said the tests are by appointment only, and interested persons can call the health department at (740) 283-6000, extensions 1503 through 1508, to schedule an appointment.

"We will be offering blood pressure screenings and tuberculosis testing from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays during September," Reda said.

"Our childhood and adult immunization clinic is held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child. And a record of prior immunizations must be provided before immunizations will be administered. If you are a child's legal guardian you must present your court order documents on the day of service in order for the child to receive vaccinations," said Reda.

Reda said all sixth-graders entering the seventh grade this fall are required to have a TDAP vaccination prior to the start of the school year.

"Please check your child's shot record now to make sure it is updated. The TDAP vaccine can be administered at the city health department or at your pediatrician's office," Reda stated.

"Please bring your Ohio Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medical Mutual of Ohio and Health America/Health Assurance insurance cards with you," added Reda.

Flu vaccine clinic dates will be available when the flu vaccine arrives at the city health department.

Reda said the Zostavax or shingles shot is now available at the city health department. Questions regarding the shingles shot can be answered by calling the nursing division at (740) 283-6000, extensions 1506 or 1507.

"Please bring your Ohio Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medical Mutual of Ohio and Health America/Health Assurance insurance cards with you," added Reda.

The city health department is located at 119 S. Third St.
