Scrabble session set for Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE - Area Scrabble enthusiasts will gather Wednesday for their monthly game session in room 1504 at Eastern Gateway Community College.

Play time will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with newcomers welcome and encouraged to bring the board game if they have one. No fees are charged.

Bonus words will be words related to harvest time. Call (740) 264-9893.

McKinley plans town hall meeting

NEW CUMBERLAND - U.S. Rep. David B. McKinley, R-Wheeling, will hold a townhall event in New Cumberland Tuesday.

The event, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and beginning at 7 p.m., will take place at the New Cumberland City Hall, 104 North Court St.

During the townhall, McKinley will provide an update on activities within Congress and then take questions from those in attendance. The townhall is open to the public.

College fair planned Oct. 7 at WLU

WEST LIBERTY - The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce's annual College Fair is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 7 at the Academic Sports and Recreation Complex at West Liberty University.

Participants will have the opportunity to talk with representatives from more than 100 participating colleges and universities. Students will be bussed in from area high schools from the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and Eastern Ohio, according to a prearranged schedule. Parents and other interested individuals are welcome to attend.

Information regarding various levels of adult education and graduate programs will be available at the college fair.

The 2013 event is sponsored by WesBanco and WTOV-TV. WesBanco representatives will be available during the fair to answer any questions regarding financial planning and lending for future educational needs.
