Edison school board discusses session on levy

HAMMONDSVILLE - A public meeting for the public to learn about an upcoming levy proposal was discussed during Tuesday's Edison Board of Education meeting.

The district announced it will host a community meeting concerning the upcoming 5.9-mill, five-year levy proposal on the Nov. 5 ballot, according to Bill Beattie, district superintendent. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the Edison High School auditorium, and those with questions and concerns are invited to attend, said Beattie.

In other matters, the board accepted a letter of resignation from Mark Chuchiak, district technology coordinator, who was then contracted on an as-needed basis at $16.50 per hour, according to Beattie.

The board also approved the leasing of new copy machines, while also employing Michael Wright as district technology coordinator beginning today through July 31.

The board also endorsed the upcoming Jefferson County Joint Vocational School operating levy on the Nov. 5 ballot.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Gregg Elementary School.
