Three dozen levies on Harrison County ballots

CADIZ - A total of 36 issues appear on the Harrison County ballot Tuesday, though just three represent more taxation for residents.

Harrison County is asking voters for an additional 0.75 mills to support its 911 system. The village of New Athens, meanwhile, wants and additional 1 mill for current expenses for five years. Other communities are seeking to replace existing levies with current taxation levels.

Cadiz Township is seeking replacement of two levies for maintenance at the Cadiz Union Cemetery - one for 0.44 mills and the second for 1 mill. Cadiz Township also is asking voters to replace a 1-mill levy for firefighting equipment.

And Franklin Township is seeking to replace a 0.5-mill levy for cemetery maintenance.

A total of 29 of the issues going before Harrison County voters seek renewal of existing levies, and these are are as follows:

- Harrison County - 0.75 mills for senior citizen services for five years.

- Harrison County - 1 mill for Board of Developmental Disabilities for five years.

- Harrison County - 0.5 mills for Public Children Services Agency for five years.

- Harrison County - 0.75 mills for Harrison County Sheriff's Department for five years.

- Puskarich Public Library -1 mill for current expenses for five years.

- Bowerston Village -1 mill for park expenses for five years.

- Freeport Village - 0.89 mills for current expenses for four years.

- Harrisville Village - 0.5 mills mills for current expenses for four years.

- Jewett Village (First) -1 mill for current expenses for five years.

- Jewett Village (Second) -1 mill for current expenses for five years.

- Hopedale Village - 1.6 mills for current expenses for five years.

- New Athens Village - 1 mill for current expenses for five years.

- Scio Village - 2 mills for current expenses for five years.

- Scio Village - 0.88 mills for park expenses for five years.

- Scio Village - 0.88-mills for current expenses for five years.

- Athens Township - 0.5 mills for cemetery maintenance for five years.

- Athens Township - 1 mill for cemetery maintenance for five years.

- Franklin Township - 1 mill for fire truck and equipment replacement for five years.

- Freeport Township - 1.5 mills for cemetery maintenance for five years.

- Freeport Township - 1.5 mills for fire protection for five years.

- German Township - 1 mill for cemetery operation and maintenance for five years.

- Moorefield Township - 2 mills for fire protection for five years.

- Moorefield Township - 0.4 mills for cemetery maintenance for five years.

- Nottingham Township - 1 mill for fire protection for five years.

- Rumley Township - 2 mills for fire equipment for five years.

- Stock Township - 1 mill for fire protection for five years.

- Stock Township - 1 mill for road maintenance for five years.

In Cadiz, voters will be asked if the sale of wine and mixed beverages should be allowed in the village, while voters in Scio will be asked to approve a proposed plan for electric aggregation there.
